We know that you have heard many things about the proper diet.  We are not going to discuss all the arguments about what a healthy diet is.  We will make only one point.  If you want to reduce your risk of a heart attack, you should reduce the amount of saturated fat in your diet.  Saturated fat raises your LDL cholesterol up to 20%.  


Fats are made up of carbon atoms and hydrogen atoms (picture a daisy chain).  Carbons can be connected to each other with one bond or two bonds.  A saturated fat has only one bond whereas an unsaturated fat has at least one, two carbon carbon bond (see picture below).  Avoid food that contain saturated fat - food examples are on the next page.
