Many scientific studies have demonstrated that people who are fit live healthier and longer lives.  We are in favor of exercise – it causes many good things to happen in your body.  For example, it increases the "good' cholesterol call HDL cholesterol which removes plaque in heart arteries.  It also lowers triglyceride which can cause plaque build up.  It also increases sensitivity to insulin which is important for people with diabetes.

There are many types of exercise.  We favor exercises that do not damage the joints or tendons.  For this reason, we advocate brisk walking at least 30 minutes per day or swimming if available.  The bottom line is to keep moving.  Almost everyone has some limitations so be sure and stay within your abilities.

The critical point of exercise is to do it regularly.  Many authorities recommend brisk walking for 30 minutes each day.  You need to set aside a specific time each day to exercise.  This is one way to prevent heart attacks.
